Access is product-specific
China maintains lists of fresh fruits admitted from each country. A fruit not on the list cannot simply be imported because it is sold elsewhere. Ask the Chinese importer or customs broker to confirm admissibility of the specific product from Ecuador before any commercial commitment.
Registration and filing
Chinese rules include registration or filing obligations for overseas food producers and for importers. The exact requirement depends on the product category. Ask your supplier whether the farm, packing house or exporter is registered where required, and ensure your Chinese importer is correctly filed.
Phytosanitary and food-safety requirements
Expect a phytosanitary certificate, inspection and quarantine on arrival, and compliance with Chinese limits for contaminants and residues. Lot testing and strict packing-house hygiene reduce the risk of detention.
Labelling for the Chinese market
Pre-packaged food generally needs Chinese-language labels meeting national standards. Fresh produce may follow different rules. Confirm with your importer who prepares and applies labels, and where.
Trade agreement and tariffs
Ecuador and China have a free trade agreement that can lower tariffs on qualifying goods, subject to origin documentation. Ask the exporter how origin will be certified.
